review of Antigua Village hotel in Antigua. Antigua is a Caribbean island with a hotel called antigua village. Antigua Village is the hotel I stayed at in Antigua. Antigua has many hotels. Antigua Village on Dickenson Bay is just one of those in Antigua.Antigua Village is a sizable condo development on Dickenson Bay which is operated by the villa owners themselves (so it is well maintained). Two story buildings surround attractive planted gardens adjacent to the sea. Within the development is The Beach restaurant and nearby are several other good places to eat. Facilities include a kitchen for self catering and it has more of a community spirit than a regular hotels. Very reasonably priced time share has made this a popular spot for return visitors.

A casino and many other restaurants are a short walk away.

Dickenson Bay is a beautiful beach on the lee of the island where the sea is usually quite calm. There is more to do there than most beaches in Antigua and it was my favorite when I used to visit as a tourist 17 years ago.

Just got back from a splendid honeymoon at Antigua Village where the accomodations were very comfortable and weliked being near the activity of Dickenson Bay!

Antigua Paddles (Monday) - Great fun and great bargain! Excellent for couples and families as Conrad and Jennie are great with children! As a bonus we thoroughly enjoyed being escorted to/from Dickenson Bay by members of the crew who were full of answers to our questions about the island!

Horseback Riding (Monday Afternoon) - OK, for all of you who've ridden a horse it's probably laughable to pay $40 forthis. For us, though, we met up with several other honeymooners who became our friends for the week and the bar up at Fort James gets my vote for the coolest place on the island to drink a beer! Folks in Dickenson Bay see Joseph and tell him if he wants my Adidas bag to send me an email or something!

Eli's Eco Tour (Tuesday) - Very Cool! Lunch on Bird Island was outstanding! My favorite part was swimming out to Hell's Rock or whatever and climbing through the caves! My wife liked the fact that our tour guides, Kale and Stevey (sp?), were quick to jump right in the water with the rest of the tour folks! Didn't get to meet Eli but we did get to see some pretty good kite surfing close-up while enjoying a different (and superior) version of rum punch!!!

Sentio Yacht (Friday) - Fabulous! Capt'n John is a great host full of colorful stories of the Who's Who in and out of Antigua and on and off the Sentio! The lunch, the champagne, the swimming/diving, and just being under sail just off the island with Montserrat looming on the horizon were all wonderful! If we'd had one more day I'd have spent it diving in and out of the bars around English Harbour!!!

Restaurants I'd recommend: Commisioner's Grill (St. John's) - Best meal we had all week! From the appetizer's to the entrees to the drinks everything was terrific and worth the price! Riviera Casino (Dickenson Bay) - Great meal and great value. All of our meals were outstanding and the prices are reasonable!

Our breakfast of choice was the banana pancakes and omelettes at The Beach (by Antigua Village) and I really liked theircheeseburgers, too!

And our favorite Taxi driver was a guy named William (464-0588). Extremely punctual and reliable and he never made us pay until AFTER THE RETURN trip! On our last day we had him drop us off in St. John's, keep all of our luggage with him while we shopped, and pick us up to take us to the airport!
