With two beaches, half a dozen tennis courts, three restaurants and a marina St. James is Antigua Resorts semi formal mid/high market operations. I had a gallery there for 9 years before deciding to concentrate on the our down town and Hodges Bay galleries so I know the property well. The previous operators had difficulty filling this extensive facility and allowed the quality of the resort to slip. Since taking over the resort Rob Barret really turned the hotel around not only turning a profit for the first time in years but also producing a lot of satisfied customers.

Selected for four consecutive years as the best hotel in the Caribbean, the St. James's Club Antigua is perched on a 100-acre private peninsula between the calm inner harbor of the Mamora Beach and the rolling waves of the Atlantic, A barrier reef tames the waves by the time they lap on the Atlantic beach and provides many snorkeling opportunities into the bargain. The Mamora Beach Water Sports Center offers a wide range of non-motorized water activities which are available to all guests at no extra charge and include windsurfing, sunfish sailing, pedal boats, snorkeling and kayaking. Instructions are provided.

Antigua Resorts offer a range of 4 hotels in Antigua each with a distinct personality and different levels of cost and exclusivity. Royal Antiguan is their economy hotel. Galley Bay is more intimate, up market and VERY popular. Jolly Harbour is practically a town! Prices vary accordingly.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS: St James offers 178 rooms in five categories, 105 of which are located in three of the Club's "Main Hotel". The remaining 73 rooms are private villas that overlook Mamora Bay in what is referred to as the "Village". All accommodations are air-conditioned with either two double or one king-size bed, ceiling fans, hairdryer, private bath with shower and tub, safety deposit box, direct-dial telephone, color cable television, alarm clock radio, bathrobes and private balconies or patios.

• CLUB ROOM - their standard room, with two double beds, a garden or an ocean view.
• PREMIUM ROOM - A king bedded room, usually on the second floor, with an ocean view.
• TWO BEDROOM VILLA - Luxuriously appointed private villas located in the "Village". Each feature two separate bedrooms with private bath and shower. The master bedroom has a king-size bed and full bath with tub, shower and bidet. The second bedroom has two twin beds plus a full bath with shower. Every villa has separate dining and living areas with balcony or patio overlooking Mamora Bay. All villas are equipped with full kitchen facilities.
• BEACHFRONT VILLA - Same as the normal Villa, but directly on the beach and featuring a lovely patio. Beachfront Villas are on request only.

   

  Antigua Resorts specialize in romantic tropical weddings in beautiful surroundings. A gazebo overlooking the sea is very popular for that purpose but you can be married on the beach if you like. They do a package for U.S. $660.00 which includes registrar costs and ceremony charges, government fees, garden flower bouquet, boutonniere for the groom, wedding cake, a bottle of champagne, taxes and gratuities. This MUST be prearranged through the hotel's US. Reservations office and directed to the wedding coordinator. The package is FREE if you booked 13 nights or more of Premium, Suite, or 2 BR Villa categories and the all-inclusive Plan. Requirements should be prearranged through the hotel's US.   HEALTH CLUB: The Club also offers guests use of its fitness center, the Body Shop, located adjacent to the Poinciana Building. This air-conditioned center features free weights, exercise bicycles, treadmills, stair climbers and nautilus equipment. A qualified staff member is on duty to help guests with their training needs. Aquacise classes are also available in the Main Pool.

• Coco Beach BBQ - A casual beachfront eatery serving grilled favorites. Open for lunch.
• Docksider Restaurant & Bar - A nautical open-air restaurant specializing in bistro-style cuisine and Caribbean dishes. Candlelit dinners nestled under palm trees beside Mamora Bay Beach.
• Piccolo Mondo Set high above Mamora Bay in the "Village", Piccolo Mondo offers creative Italian and fine International cuisine and is ideal for elegant dining and private functions.
• Garden Patio - An outdoor patio where you will enjoy both early morning coffee service and afternoon tea.
• Rainbow Garden - St. James's Club's main dining room, the Rainbow Garden features an array of continental cuisine and specialty dishes.
