NOV. 99
ANTIGUA
THREATENED BY HURRICANE LENNY

The first blue sky following hurricane Lenny emerges amidst an amazing sunset which filled the late afternoon sky with an eerie orange glow. It was a magnificent end to three miserable days of anticipation and frustration surrounding the weirdest storm to hit Antigua this decade and inspired me to write...

"There's a hurricane a comin'.
Hear it knocking at the door.
There's a hurricane a comin'
and it ain't no fun no more."

Therewere a lot of images of flood damage floating around the net (pardon the pun) in Lenny's wake so before I add to them and encourage further rumors that Antigua was trashed let me show you the image on the right taken only 2 days after Lenny passed. The sea was calm off of my home in Hodges Bay. The sun shines gloriously again. 26 inches of rain had transformed the landscape into an emerald isle.

Unfortunately that 26 inches if rain also caused a lot of water to rush to the sea and created major problems in a few area. In almost all areas things are back to normal now. The folloeing links remain purely for the record.
